Korea entered the initial stage of an advanced country in 2007. Its per capita GNI arrived at 2,045 US dollars and it become the 11th biggest trade nation in the world in 2007. However, Korea is still faced several challenges to overcome. Challenges are not only from globalization process and unprecedented technological innovation but also from domestic conflicts of interest. In order to overcome those challenges and to be an advanced country like US, Japan and other European developed countries, Korea needs to achieve the following six policy targets successfully: first, it should establish free market economy compatible with world market to respond the waves of globalization; second, it should construct the mechanism for the mediation of conflicts through democratic procedures and rule of law; third, it has to build the infra-structure for technology, knowledge and creation-based economy and prepare for the new production mode derived from ubiquitous society; fourth, it also establish efficient and effective social welfare system to guarantee the practical support for the needy like the disabled etc.; fifth, it should also achieve stable energy and natural resources sources necessary for the future economic growth; finally, it should rebuild the robust national security system based on Korea-US alliance to hold North-Korean military threats and terrorists’attack.
