As the unique one of Chinese folksongs, the Northeast folk song takes root in the vast Northeast territory, contains the pleasure, sorrow, anger, joy of the Northeast common people, draws the traces and feelings of their lives.
According to heritage subject, the Northeast folk song can be divided into two parts : the Han Nationality folk song and the Minority nationality folk song.
According to content, the Han Nationality folk song is divided into the following parts : labor, current politics, ritual, love, daily life and nursery. According to Changqu, it is generally divided into three parts : Hao-zi, Xiao-diao and Shan-ge. Famous Han Nationality folk song are : Ha-yao-gua, Yue-ya-wu-geng, Dong-bei-feng, Qiao-qing-lang, Diu-jie-zhi, Xiao-kan-xi, Xiao-bai-nian. The Han Nationality folk song mainly originates from Shangdong and Hebei.
Representative Minority nationality folk song of the Northeast are : Korean folk song, Manchu folk song, Olunchun folk song, Ewenki folk song, Hoche folk song. Korean folk song not only has high popularity, but also ranks among the best in the whole Chinese Minority Nationality. Korean folksongs being widely spread in buk-ning-beon-ga, Pung-gu-ta-reong, Sae-ta-reong, Uong-hei-ya, Be-tel-ga, Bae-no-ri.
Manchu folk song ranks second only to Korean folk song in the Northeast Minority nationality. Rie-rieisthemostuniqueManchufolksong. Representative Manchu folksong sare : Yao-lan-qu, Pai-shou-ge, Yi-le-ha-muk-ke, A-ca-bu-mi, Zi-sun-wan-dai-ge, Chu-zheng-ge, Dan-ca-la-mi.
Olunchun, Ewenki, Hoche belong to the Chinese Minority nationality which have less population. However, their folksongs are real eye catcher for their aboriginal culture foundation.
The Northeast folk song can be traced back to ancient age and has been existing and developing in the process of several hundreds of unique cultural accumulation and in the course of magnificant upsurge of the Northeast historical trend, during which the Northeast folk song formed the unique style and flavor. The Northeast folk song, as it were, iconically shows the cultural mentality, moral ethics, values and notion, religious faith, folk psychology, especially the courage and industry, large and generous spirit of the Northeast common people.
