A folk song is called as various ways because of the regional characteristics, the individualization and other cultural factors of it. Therefore, the study of the folk song has characteristics not to be discussed as only one material.
As we find out the more bountiful materials and take into consideration the actual circumstances, we can understand the entire aspect of the folk song. Accordingly, the informationalization, above all things, in the folk song is of particular important.
So far, there have been published most source books regard to the folk song and what is more, there is instances that although the sound material and the musical note add to them, even those attempts is still in their early stage for the purpose of expose the real condition of the folk song. However, the most recent, 'the Academy of Korean Studies' published and brought out 〈The overall survey on the Cyber Korea Folk Song〉. In a number of aspects, this book differs from the existing source book, as well as, has more extensive possibilities concerning the practical application.
This composition is designed to provide the musicological application plan of 〈the overall survey on the eyber korea folk song〉, and what is more, to adjust the prospective matters to be happened. In the application plan of it, there are indicated three points of view, such as the field of 'Music Education', 'Music Composition' and 'Music Reserch'. On the other hand, there five problems of it. First, it is necessary to keep up the studies in order to regulate and replenish it. Second, it is requisite to construct the moving pictures. Third, it is necessary that intensive index operations and material approach processes is essential for assorting the sources according to his/her purpose. Forth, to begin with, the problem of the copyright must be brought to a settlement. Finally, the folk songs in 〈the overall survey on the cyber korea folk song〉 is nothing but a sort of material or source that is existing in the cyber space. The ultimate purpose of 〈the overall survey on the cyber korea folk song〉 is to put the folk song back its place, where it was.
