This paper explores the ways in which the filmic adaptation of novel in "aimless bullet-obaltan" experiments the possibility of art film in korean movies. During 1960's, literary films were increased and diversified. Specially the filming of contemporary novels are increased in number. The film "aimless bullet" is usually criticized as a new origin of modernizing korean film and korean realism film.
This film was reproduced as resolute modifying the original novel. However this film had been free from the habitual criticism about damaging original work. This film represents the multilayered realities in 1950's korean post war by enlarging the yungho's narrative which relatively reduced in the original novel. And director found the proper film techniques and used those as film expression languages for the representation of realities like this. Those are point of view shots, objective shots and montages. The point of view shots described the devastated individual's mental side, compared with the objective shots and montages represented the social irregularities. This represents much to the 1960's korean film history in korean adaptation of neorealism which covered widely from theme or motif to style.
For these reason, this thesis comes to the conclusion that "aimless bullet" made way for convirting the literary film into art film.
