China argues that Koguryo shared its ancestors with Shang dynasty (one of Chinese ancient countries) as the evidence that koguryo belongs to Chinese history. According to China, both countries' people consisted of descents of Jeonwook Goyang and Jegog Gosin who were Chinese legendary figures. However, it was made clear that this argument has nothing to do with Koguryo's own succession. Rather, it suggested that founding fathers of Koguryo were originally from the Booyeo Kingdom. China made a case for seeing Koguryo's history as part of Chinese one based on the assumption that the place where Koguryo was founded belongs to Chinese territory, but this study pointed out that Koguryo established itself at the site of the Ancient Joseon (Korea's first nation).
This study went even further by reminding BaekJae's conquer of part of Chinese midlands based on documentation of Chinese midlands. All these records are based on "Four Classics for Chinese"
This study presented documentation that founding fathers of Shilla were related with the Ancient Joseon rather than ancient Chinese to whom Chinese insisted they were related based on the Chinese novel "Romance of Three Kingdoms". This study also proved that Shilla's Kim dynasty was not descendents of Sohokimchoen, Chinese legendary figure by presenting the documentation which saw Shilla Kim dynasty was originated from the Hun as well as tracking down on lineage of Shilla royal tombs. Refuting a Chinese assertion that Shilla was a tributary of the Tang dynasty (one of Chinese ancient countries), this study presented a historical fact that Shilla rejected an order from tile Tang dynasty to change the posthumous epithet of Shilla king, Mooyeol, the Great for it was same as that of Emperor Taizong of Tang China.
Unique histories of the Three Kingdoms can be recognized in awareness of Chinese dynasties or Japan, which is also related with cultural uniqueness of the Three Kingdoms. The Three Kingdoms were referred to as Haedong (East of the Sea) or Samhan (Three Han) by them. This study could elaborate on unique politics of the Three Kingdoms by introducing the commencement and the course of the change of the awareness of Haedong and Samhan. It was also important to recognize how the Three Kingdoms defined themselves. To this end, this study showed that the Three Kingdoms set their own unique politics different from those of Chinese dynasties by providing specific evidence on right from heaven and emperor systems of the Three Kingdoms.
In this thesis, an in-depth study on how the Three Kingdoms served as a role of a cultural community was also introduced. It focused on identifying common denominations in the cultures of the Three Kingdoms ranging from languages to general customs to political systems. In addition, specific evidence of cultural interchange among me Three Kingdoms was also presented here. This study found out that koguryo was in the center of the interchange.
This study so far suggested that the Three Kingdoms had me power with unique characteristics which were distinguished politically and culturally from those of China's midlands or Japan.
