According to the land survey registers of Chungju-gun under the Great Han Empire, there was a total of 30.533 gyeol of paddy fields and dry fields in the village of Yeonwon. The total of dry fields was 18.887 gyeol which was about 61.2% of paddy fields and dry fields, and the rate was higher than Bukbyeon-meonwon and Chungju-gun. Although the rate of paddy fields in the village of Yeonwon was similar to the villages of Gaheung and Donwol, it was different to the village of Yongan. It was same to Yeoktos. And the higher land grade of the village of Yeonwon was similar to the villages Gaheung and Yongan, but the land grade of village of Donwol was lower than other villages. But The villages of Yeonwon, Gaheung, Donwol and Yongan with station in Chungju-gun were similar to the high rate of Yeoktos of paddy fields and dry fields.
There were 88 houses with 3 tile-roofed houses and 85 thatched cottages in the village of Yeonwon. A tile-roofed house with 30 kan was building of the station of Yeonwon until 1895. The rate of the thatched cottages of 2 kan and 3 kan in the villages of Yeonwon, Donwol and Yongan was much higher than other thatched cottages. However the rate of the thatched cottages of 2 kan in the village of Gaheung was lower than other village, because the traffic and commercial business in the village of Gaheung was more better than other villages. And the japan's market and base facilities in the village of Gaheung showed japan's imperialism. But the villages of Yeonwon, Gaheung, Donwol and Yongan in Chungju-gun were similar to the high rate of house close connection with station.
There were 85 farmers in the villages of Yeonwon. If we classify them by land ownership. a wealthy farmer was 10(about 24.1%) and a middle farmer was 13(about 24.1%) and a small farmer was 8(about 14.8%). and a poor farmer was 24(about 42.5%). But if we classify them by area under cultivation and land rented other. a wealthy farmer was 10(24.1%)→24(about 44.5%) and a middle farmer was 13(24.1%)→12(about 22.2%) and a small farmer was 8(about 14.8%)→ 10(about 18.5%), and a poor farmer was 24(about 42.5%)→8(about 14.5%). It showed that a wealthy farmer was much increased and a poor farmer was much decreased. And it was same to the villages of Gaheung, Donwol and Yongan. But there were 31 tenant farmer without land ownership in the village of Yeonwon. They were mostly poor. because the profit of tenant land was half that of their own land and the size of tenant land was small. It was same to other villages. Especially the most tenant farmers who lived the thatched cottages of 2 kan was in destitution.
