Rev. Kim, Insuh was one of the brilliant evangelical Christian thinkers, preachers and evangelists in the Korean church history. At first, he began as a member of the Korean national independent movement in the 1920’s. He experienced evangelical conversion in prison. After that, he started a new life as a gospel evangelist.
But his interest about the Korean nation had not diminished after his conversion. In his thought, the concept of nation and Christian mind combined and harmonized as a new thought. He called it ‘Pauline Nationalism.’ Actually, it was a representative evangelical Christian nationalism.
He said the Korean nation was captured by Japanese Imperial power in the real situation, but in his thought the Korea nation was born again like himself. He thought the Korea nation was being renewed in the Christian faith. He claimed that only gospel challenged and changed the Korean nation’s moral standard. A divine mission was given to the Korean nation, It was to spread the gospel to the Asian countries. The range of his thought was wide and Issues of his thought were plentiful. But all of his thoughts were christianized in the evangelical context.
There were many political Korean Christian nationalism, Rev. Kim, Insuh’s thought was evangelical and theological. It was a rare and precious fruit of the Korean Christian thought.
