In the late part of Korean Empire, Kim Yang-Sun was bom at an enlightened, Christian family and his farther took part in the national movement. He entered the literary course of the Pyongyang Union Christian Collage in 1926 and studied various kind of modem learning. Then he studied theology and became a pastor.
Kim Yang-sun began to take part in the national movement according to the anti-Japanese mood of Union Christian College. And he became a member of Chunggoohoe(청구회) which was an anti-Japanese secret society. He actively participated anti-Japanese movement like the Hurrah Movement of Pyongyang Students(평양학생 만세운동) and the Refusal Movement to Shrine Worship(神社參拜 拒否運動). As the result, he was four times put in prison in Pyongyang for about 2 years from 1930s to 19405.
In 1928 when Kim Yang-Sun was junior student of Union Christian Collage, he was impressed by Professor Yang loa-Dong who stressed the ancestor's remains and the national spirit, So he made up his mind to study Korean Christianity history and Koran archaeology, He thought Korean church was the last fort for national movement, and the main stay of spirit of Korean people, Christianity and nation was combined as one in his thought, and his learning was on the t1VO axis of Christianity and nation, He was a pioneer scholar in the study of Korean protestant history, Korean catholic church history, the history of Shilhak(實學), the history of Korean national movement, and Korean archaeology,
Kim Yang-Sun established the Korean Christian Museum to let Koreans know the good points of Christianity and become Christians in the Jong run, As he believed that Christianity was the way of the relief for Korean nation and the basis of the modernization of Korea, he hoped all Koreans became Christians. The Korean Christian Museum possessed important materials relative to Korean Christianity, western science and technology, Korean anti-Japanese movement, and Korean Archaeology.
Who "''as Kim Yang-Sun? Kim Yang-Sun did his best as an anti-Japanese fighter, a pastor, a scholar, a professor and a protector of cultural assets. He devoted his whole life to the Christian national movemem. So we can say that he was a Christian nationalist.
