Daedongdongjihoe was organised as an pro-Japanese organization which should lead the anti-Japanese movements and the ideological struggles of the Korean people and contrive the coexistence and coprosperity between the both people in Pyongyang. Many leading figures of this group like Sunwoo Soon etc. came from the core of the Enlightenment movement that had been in activity in Pyoungyang, but directly before and after the Samil Independence Movement most of all had changed their coat publicly.
The central activity of this organization was to propagate the thoughts. It devoted itself entirely not only to the educational activities, e.g. dispatching a student studying abroad and founding the educational institutions, but also to the direct propaganda activities such as the opening of the popular lecture meeting and the publication of the bulletin. And especially the bulletin 『Gongyoung』 gave emphasis to the intimate relationship of the regional and the colonial power.
In a word, the main ideology of the Daedongdongiihoe group in the 『Gongyoung』 was the coexistence and coprosperity of the strong and tile week. It meant that the strong and the week should be the Japanese people and tile Korean people on the perspective of the nationalism, and the capitalists and tile workers on the perspective of the class theory. The former became concretized into the 'Naesunilcheron(內鮮一體論)', the latter emphasized the co-operation of the workers and the capitalists. The anti-materialism was advocated to fulfill this aim. Members of this group all criticized both of the capitalism and the socialism on the anti-materialistic position. But tile critical point and accent was very different. While their critic on the capitalism was only restricted to the management problem, they assumed the much more critical attitude toward tile socialism, so that they had denied tile socialistic system entirely.
