During XIX and first half XX centuries Russian was investigated as mean s of dialogue mainly "in itself and for itself'. One of the most interesting con cepts explaining communication of language and culture belongs to V. Humbolt. At the end of XX century the anthropological paradigm has taken the important position in researches on Russian language. This paradigm locates people on the first place.
Language within the framework of an anthropological paradigm is conside red as a cultural code of the nation. instead of considering as a simple instrument of the communications and knowledge. The science about interaction of language and culture has been named linguo-culturology(лингвокультурология). Lingua-culturology concerns both science about culture. and science about language.
In Russia there already exist four schools of lingua-culturology. The anthropology-centered lingua-culturology corresponds to the general tendency of modern humanitarian researches. Lingua-culturology has its own specific categorial device. The major category of Lingua-culturology is the cultural concept.
The study of Lingua-culturology in Russian leans on achievements of several sciences: philosophy. cultural science. ethnolinguistics, sociolinguistics. literary criticisms. theories of translation, etc.
