This research explores the function of temple’s environments(physical and human environments) for temple-stay. More specifically, it examines how various dimensions of temple’s environments influence temple-stay participants’ emotional state, and how these emotional state, in turn, influence participants’ responses(satisfaction and behavioral intention). The authors propose a structural model comprising all these constructs. Data were collected from 285 temple-stay participants in 6 temples. The result of empirical research indicates that 3 dimensions(aesthetic factor, natural environment factor, social factor) of temple’s environments have a significant effect on participants’ emotional state, and that these psychological experiences serve as critical mediators in the perceived environments-responses(both of satisfaction and behavioral intention). The result suggests that temple-stay operators should manage(or, improve) their physical and human environment conditions for inducing participants’ positive emotion and responses.
