This explicates the identity of Korean Mythology as a logic of ‘Bonpuri’ which is the typical example of Korean Mythology, and not as a theory of Foreign Mythology. ‘Bonpuri’ is a song that interprets god’s fundamental history through exorcism of an exorcist. Starting from the genesis to the present, it is a mythology that depicts the creation of the universe, the history of the nation, and the current situation of an exorcist. The word ‘Bon’ from Bonpuri is the beginning of a history and the original form of a culture. It is Bonpuri that unravels the history of genesis and the prototype of culture, a model and a function of Korean Mythology.
Our mythology is nothing but a compressed file which puts the first form of national culture and identity. Accordingly, through the logics of Bonpuri, the road to mythology research is to solve the compressed form and identity of national culture in myths. To have a detailed look into Changsega of shamanism mythology, many mythologies are captured such as the Creation Mythology, the Progenitor Mythology, and the Solar & Lunar Control Mythology. The truth is that Dangun Myth?known as the story of Gojoseon foundation?is combined with Hwanoong and Dangun Myth. The Jumong Myth is put together by Haemosu and Jumong Myth thought in the same logic. It is surely enough to grasp the truth that Shinsi and Buyeo existed before Gojoseon and Goguryo era respectively.
The story of Hwanoong tells about Hwanoong giving Shinsi under Shindansu of Mt. Taebaek, ruling over 360 matters, and saving the world from confusion and hardships. Therefore the myth itself is possible to be called the ‘Shinsi Nation’, as the story tells about Hwanoong building theocratic nation called Shinsi and becomes a heavenly father. Dangun Myth added to Hwanoong Myth, tells and captures the history of the foundation of Gojoseon. Because two stories are not viewed distinctively, it is misunderstood considering ‘Hongik Human’?a devotion to the welfare of mankind?that is an idea of Hwanoong and an ideology of Shinsi, as the idea of Dangun or the thoughts Gojoseon foundation. Consequently, it is necessary to find the original form of national culture from Shinsi culture before Gojoseon culture.
Hwanoong was a heavenly father of Shinsi who made agricultural civilization, pursued eternal life, and accomplished constitutional and virtuous ruling. The evidence of memorial service toward heaven can be found at an altar ruin of Hongsan Culture and eternal life and evidence of successful ruling are in the record of China’s ancient history which notes Dong-ee is a virtuous and invincible nation. Agricultural tradition is discovered from Bitsal Pattern Vessel and Ondol, both are relics of settlement life. So it is highly possible that the word ‘Tengri’?which means the heaven and heavenly gods in the nomadic field?is delivered since Dangun.
Bonpuri mythology requires mythical archaeology which goes toward the beginning of the world, and mythical modernology which explains the present life. Dangun myth as modernology is alive in our lives just as it was. Wormwood and garlic in the bear’s stomach still continues in our dietary life and Ondol from the tradition is being connected as an identity of house living. The cultural creativity shaped from Ondol accepted boiler and bed and both of them are exported to overseas as a product name called Ondol Boiler and Ondol Bed. Therefore, by unraveling national mythology through Bonpuri, it is possible to reason the original form of the ancient culture as well as to explicate the identity of the present culture.
