The purpose of this article is to discover the aesthetic of communication of dialogic folk songs applicable to the modern society through the aspects and goals of conversation found in folk song text. The appearance of dialogic aspects such as dialogic Korean verse in Korean poetry seems to be deeply related to the rendition methods of Korean folk that stress give and take. The effects of conversation in dialogic folk is the securing of various voices, the mask effect, and the play effect. The aspect of various voices is a concept contrary to monologue. In dialogic folk, two different people coexist. It overcomes the tendency to view the world from a singe aspect and emphasizes interpreting the world from a multi-level perspective. The mask effect refers to inventing a fake persona to convey things that are impossible in the real world. Unlike in general lyrical folk, the singer and poetic subject do not usually coincide but are fake personas in dialogic folk. The play effect is explained by the playful effect given off by the dialogic aspect and the playfulness of dialogic folk referred to as give and take music. The aesthetic of communication in dialogic folk lies in the conversation and mutuality of it. Conversation is respecting the fact that positions other than mine can exist, respecting diversity. Mutuality refers to duplex. Dialogic folk is a form of literature that emphasizes mutuality in that it does not express the thoughts or feeling of a single person, but an actual conversation. I feel that the aesthetics of this dialogic folk can act as a solution to the problem of the severance of conversation in today’s world.
