The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between participation in conquest sports of self-achievement. To accomplish this research purpose, there were two research questions; Firstly. Is there difference on self-achievement according to the participation in conquest sports?, Secondly Will the degree of conquest sports participation influence the self-achievement?.
The population for this study was participants in conquest sports and public sports center located in Seoul. The final 272 responses (male 145. female 127). collected by cluster random selecting method, were used in the data analysis procedure. The items for measuring self-achievement(ability development, ability display, object fulfillment) were largely based on Park(2004)s study, and the degree of participation in conquest sports was measured by the period and frequence of participation.
The questionnaire responded data were encoded and input, then they were processed for their analysis purposes using the statistical program, SPSS Windows 12.0 Version. To analyze the final data (272). the reliability analysis, factor analysis, analysis of covariance, and multiple regression analysis were used.
The conclusions for this study were as followings;
Firstly, Self-achievement is partially different by participation yes or no of the conquest sports and sub-factor of conquest sports. That is, self-achievement and sub-factor(ability display, object fulfillment) of self-achievement is higher participation of conquest sports than non-participation. But ability development is not different.
Secondly. Self-achievement and sub-factor(ability development, ability display, object fulfillment) is partially influence by the participation of degree of conquest sports. That is, period and frequence are influence on self-achievement and sub-factor(ability development, ability display, object fulfillment).
