The purpose of this study is to come up with the optimal criteria for 16 leisure sports (ball game, racket, water sport, athletic sport, ice sport, snow sport, winter sport, mixture, gymnastics, dance, nature friendliness, new sport, expression, entertainment, leisure and air sport. For this, I have selected 200 subjects who engage in each sport, conducted a survey comprised of 25 factors and 165 questions upon completion of expert meeting among them, and performed validity study and reliability test on the collected data with the use of SPSS 22.0. The results have shown that 12 out of 16 sports have been selected with 10 factors for ball game, 9 for racket sport, 13 for water and leisure sports,10 athletic sports, 10 snow, ice and winter sports, 8 mixture sports, 11 gymnastics, 8 dance and martial arts sports, 7 nature friendliness sports, 8 new sports, 8 expression sports, and 9 entertainment sports. These results present a need to reconstitute criteria for participation motives based on the characteristics of each type of sport.
