Current elementary school education system of Korean traditional music is not systematical than Western music education system. Especially learning through various experiences is not consisted. Western musical instrument can contact various musical instruments and various musical instruments that raise various tone colors from lower grades student to seniors student. On the other side, Korean traditional musical instrument is limited to small hand drum that is a drumming instrument and double-headed drum pinched in at the middle, small gong that limited in simplicity rhythm. Dan-so is a small notched bamboo vertical flute, can take part in performance activity uniquely, but it is hard to make a sound. Therefore, developing appropriate training methods and teaching aid are required to lower grades students through senior students for experience of Korean traditional instruments.
Kayageum is one of the Korean traditional musical instruments that compared to piano. Kayageum is twelve stringed instruments made in wood that similar to western harp. It has a long vacuum tube to echo the tune produced by the strings tied over it and supported by bridges. The advantage of this instrument is easy to make a sound by tearing off with fingers. In addition, the tuning of this instrument is easier than other Korean traditional instruments; it can be tuned by moving the bridge up and down. For that reasons, Kayageum is the most suitable Korean traditional musical instrument for children. Hence, in this study, we have developed 8 strings Kayageum that improved existing 12 strings Kayageum.
There are several advantages of the 8 strings Kayageum.
First, in case of the playing 12 strings Kayageum could have difficulty for practicing with many numbers of strings. On contrast, by reducing the 12 strings to 8 strings, we could mitigate the inconvenience.
Second, shorten sharply size of musical instrument is portable that easy for children to carry. Also, the shorten size of Kayageum will fit on the children's desk size.
Third, using polyester string is better than using silk thread; to prevent a string break easily, and easy to change the strings.
Fourth, installing guitar tuning pegs to Kayageum is convenient for tuning and set up the tuning pegs for easy to change the broken strings.
Fifth, anti-skidding elastic on the back of the body will prevent the movement or skidding when they play the Kayageum on the desk.
Sixth, 8 strings Kayageum is widen a pentatonic scale of Sanjo Kayageum with 8 notes The scale of 8 strings Kayageum is as follows.

To provide 8 strings Kayageum expected to be enlightening effect for education as following facts.
First, this activity isintended to foster children to build their moral character through the traditional instrument Kayageum.
Second, to minimize the skills for playing so that children can be more friendly with our traditional instrument.
Third, expect to growth expression in Korean traditional music through the early studying. Fourth, 8 strings Kayageum is playable from kindergarten to seniors in elementary school.
Last, but not least, it is very effective system that learn traditional musical scale and to learn how to play Kayageum before playing the 12 strings Kayageum.
This is a thesis that expecting enormous effect in traditional emotion fostering to children through the improvement of 8 strings Kayageum. However, it is important task that supply the instrument for training methods and teaching aid to adopt in school. 8 strings Kayageum should be easy enough to purchase at stationery store as Dan so. Therefore, it is necessary to produce the instrument in a small budget; not expensive as 12 strings Kayageum.
In conclusion, with produce 8 strings Kayageum, it is hoped that the development of the training and teaching method will be able to help people to foster the emotion of Korean tradition, also understanding the characteristic of Korean traditional music.
