This study adopted multi-stage stratified cluster random sampling for 320 elementary school pupils frequenting in Seoul area in 2006, who participated in Taekwondo-specialty and aptitude education activities.
For the preliminary survey, the reliable questionnaires about ??relationship between the participation in Taekwondo-specialty and aptitude activities and the satisfaction of pupil life” were distributed and then the results were treated by frequency analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe’s post inspection and regression analysis as follows:
First, the differences of satisfaction of school life by background variables were shown in peer relationship in each sex. To concretely explain, girls group showed higher satisfaction in peer relationship than boys. In the said satisfaction of school life in each grade, 5th ? year-grade showed as higher in peer relationship, 6th-year-grade showed as higher satisfaction to teachers, 5th-year-grade higher in respect of rules, 3rd-year-grade higher in school events and 5th-year-grade did higher satisfaction in effects.
Second, the satisfaction of school life by participation types in specialty and aptitude education activities, the differences were shown partially. The satisfaction of school life by training frequency showed as most significant in group of 4-5 sessions a week and by training hour showed as most significant in group of 1-hour group. The education effect showed highest in more than 2-hour-training group and the satisfactory peer relationship showed highest in 1or 2-year-training group and the respect of rules showed highest in less than 1-year-training group and the school events participation showed highest in less than 1or 2-year-training group.
Third, the participation motivation appeared to partially influence on satisfactory school life.
The results of this study showed the positive correlation between the participation in Taekwondo-specialty and aptitude education activities and the satisfaction in school life of pupils during their growth and development. There the participation in Taekwondo-specialty and aptitude education activities may give positive and active effects on school life of children. In conclusion, the Taekwondo-specialty and aptitude education activities with easiness in participation and learning shall be one of the factors enhancing the satisfaction of school life of children.
