Paekche flourished in Han river plain, but the study has found only a few remains in that area. Therefore this research on Gomori Fortress has a great meaning as relics of the early days of in Hansung Period Paekche. So far many early researchers have drown the attention to this fortress and personal study has been conducted as well. It was the Ground Reconnaissance that unveiled the historic meaning of Gomori Fortress.
We found some plain coarse pottery in stone texture and many Paekche earthenware in Gomori Fortress. The technology like red-fragile pottery, burnished black pottery, grey-blue stone ware shows diverse techniques of production of potteries. As most of them were found as broken pieces, it was impossible to restore a single to an original shape. So we classified them by eight recognized characteristics; jar with ears, mounted cup, pottery cover, deep bowl, egg shaped pottery, jar. Jar was the majority and daily life vessels such as deep bowl, were found. Further excavation based on the result of the Ground Reconnaissance is likely to uncover more different shapes and varieties.
Paekche earthenware from Gomori presents the process that paddling pottery was increasing since the disappearance of plain coarse pottery in stone texture, and grey-blue stone ware or burnished black pottery began to appear and was changing into grayish blue stone ware. That is, Gomori is considered to be the ruins showing the transitional stage of Paekche earthenware forming its typical build. In the quality aspect of earthenware, it resembles the recent discovery from Pongnab toseong and that implies the high degree of utilizing Gomori Fortress. With more information through overall excavation of Gomori Fortress, it will be possible to prove the northward advance of in Hansung Period Paekche in early stage and its national development, will help to understand the development and evolution of Paekche earthenware of in Hansung Period era.
