Jung, Ji Yong, poet achieved the turnabout work of the landmarks of our poetry history in the 1930's to have a good command of a sensual language and a clear image. This is because he realized a sensitization of sentiment through 'a thorough self-awakening to language' The sensitization of sentiment was embodied through his various technique and lexicon and many studies were essayed on it. This thesis has examined the feature of his poetry through a color word.
First of all, this present writer made out these examples which were extracted from the poetries of Jung Ji Yong's poetry and Mt. Baekrokdam an object of the list. The arrangement of the indexes is as in the following, The poetries which appeared in his works as his color words are 54 pieces of 87 published Jung Ji Yong's poetry and the total number of times is 107th. His color words in his [Mt. Baekrokdam are 21 pieces of 25, and the total number of times is 64th. There are the poetic words of 32th which is expressed with blue in Jung Ji Yong's poetry. 28th with white, and 14th with red, and a deep blue has a comparatively high frequency by appearing 12th in the works. The appearance frequency of blue line, red, and white comes up to 81%, as 140th of 171th colour languages appeared in two poetries. As the greatest feature we could find out a lot of appearance of the white line in Mt. Baekrokdam if we examined the feature of colour words to appear under ta phrase unit centering around the colour of high frequency. We could find out that a white image was of domination in Mt. Baekrokdam because of a lot of spatiotemporal background even an object of a modifier or the predicate of a sentence as well as a lot of frequency. Also, we are to point out that further many colour words have appeared through various forms in Jung Ji Yong's poetry The Mt. Baekrokdam has only an inflectional form of a colour adjective, while the Jung Ji Yong's poetry includes a lot of a colour words of a nounal inflectional form.
When we examine an aspect embodied a colour image in the poetry, the mixed colorful image of blue, red, and white heightens the poetic effect in order that “The Sea 2” and “The Indongcho(honeysuckle)”could express a dynamic image and one’s spiritual world in seclusion. As we compare the images of the sea, which appeared in ‘The Map’ with “The Sea”, the ideal sea described everyday experience, while the sea of experience was described a condition of deviation from everyday experience. As a result of analysis of “The red sunset”, it appeared a strong image to be radiated from red colour, and “Mt. Jangsu 1” and “Mt. Jangsu 2” showed a spirit with white colour.
