Taekwondo which is a traditional martial art native to Korea, is well-known throughout the world at present. And our nation to is now wielding the power as a suzerain state of Taekwondo. Consequently, in Korea, the suzerain state of Taekwondo among the world, the study for the thesis of the theoretical background has been doing continually and steadily but the most fundamental fields of cultural society, especially the study in the side of philosophy among them has been very insufficient in fact.
In the relationship of the Taekwondo spirits and Confucianism, the Ye, among In, Ui, Ye, Chi, Sin(benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom and sincerity), is our manner and as the exchange of mutual character and the expression the student shows the respect to the teacher, is the attitude the junior serve the senior with a nobler personality with. Taekwondo takes Ye Shi Ye Chong for th foundation, which means to start with Ye to end with Ye, and helps to cultivate the spirits to overcome the death, to be loyal to the nation and to be dutiful to parents along with the sound mind and the high-leveled technique on the basis of the spirits of loyalty and filial piety.
The Korean traditional ideas, as a view of living the thinking function of all the Korean nation has developed, have displayed the national intelligence in order to lead the in order to lead the history of the Korean nation and also is the whole product of national intelligence.
Confucianism has given a help in the establishment of the spirits of Taekwondo by maintaining the peculiarity of the Korean society and bringing the maintainance of the relationship between superiors and inferiors and the respect for the elders through the observation of the propieties.
Therefore, in order for the philosophical thesis of the spirits of Taekwondo, we should generalize all these ideas to establish proper for the emotions of our nation, and in addition, should do both comprehensive and microscopic study and mental philosophy for Taekwondo systematically and continually.
