We need the process of some conversion in order to make a traditional festival modern urban festival.
The important thing of this converting process is to understand the structure and principal of traditional festival, and to attempt modern conversion on this basis. By doing like this, maybe we can secure legitimacy.
JeJu-Ipchoongutnoli performed in traditional 'Ibchoongut'(the ritual of welcoming spring) handed down in JeJu city has the possibility of becoming an urban festival, but it has problems in interpreting its original text. So they have the difficulty in recreating the traditional festivity.
If they understand a structure of original text of Ibchoongut and supplement main performance of festival on that basis, they can recreate a fine urban festival.
