The purpose of this study is to investigate some common characteristics and some differences on the two shamanism; one is Youngdeng Gut which is held on Jeju island in Korea and the other is Nahee held at Dojin in China.
First, Both of them have a similar procedure in the ceremony, which is composed of Cheongsin(which means to call a spirit), a banquet, a prayer and Songsin(which menas to send away a spirit). It is said to have a similar characteristics in the ceremony of the two shamanism.
Second, Some similar procedures are repeated in the ceremony. In the two ceremonies, to repeat ceremonial procedures to call a spirit and entertain a spirit is to wish for their happiness and drive away misfortune, which are people's desire.
Third, some banquets are performed during the ceremony for the spectators. There is Insertion Play(삽희) such as BangYang(방양) at Nahee and dances by women divers and some games by old men at Youngdeng Gut. This means that both a ceremonial feature and a recreational feature are included in Youngdeng Gut.
And the only feature which Nahee has, which we cannot fing out in Korean Gut, is that it has a relationship with people. That is, people promise that they will devote a sacrificial offering to realize their desire. A separate procedure is performed to check their wishes. It seems that this kind of ceremonial procedure results from Chinese people's being good at calculation.
