This study explores how to establish the new welfare community in modern society through a wholistic education for the nurture of the individual maturity and human nature. Modern society, which has been called the post-information society or multi-digital society is needed to realize the shared social welfare community in which all people can participate together in the complex context of their daily life and grope for their healthy and comfortable society. This welfare community with which modern society has to concerned, comprehends the faith community for which the Christian Church has been seeking through its faith education.
This paper consists of two parts in the arrangement and scope of its important contents. The first part includes the origin and characteristics of community for the understanding and definition of the welfare community. It contains the faith community of the Early Church as the typical symbol of the welfare community and its theoretical basis in terms of the investigation and inquiry of modern sociology. The "Spiritual Community" which the Early Church practiced the common meal and the spiritual experience of the Pentecost is presented as the formal characteristics of the welfare community. The second part deals with the methodology and contents of practical education and its general goal for the educational task of the welfare community. The praxis-reflectiontheory shows what the parables mean, by comparison of the objects to the subject matter which touched human hearts. The education of the welfare community is aimed to be eschatological and intentional activities, and is focused on the cultivation of professional leaders who can be involved in social work and service. Finally, the development of an educational program for the elevation of the cultural levels between the welfare volunteers and clients is needed.
