Amenity has become a popular word in urban and site planning field. Howevr, the scope and definition of ‘amenity’ has not yet clearly identified and it becomes an issue in planning and development field. The purpose of this study defines the concepts of ‘amenity’ and its implication for planning principle so that analysis method such as to review theoretical concepts were carried out.
To summarize the results, the amenity of residential environment should be applied as a discriminative strategy of planning principle for a new paradigm. And the amenity should be conformed to the certain standard of environmental quality and the high quality of amenity would be increased significantly in the future for residental development. Thus, it should be accomplished by preparing practical methods of discriminative strategy products as planning principle.
