The Passenger External Doors for all Electrical Multiple Units, Passenger coach Cars and the KTX (Korea Train eXpress) in Korea are controlled by the Driver or Crew resulting in all the Doors operating simultaneously.
This causes heating and cooling losses (inefficiencies) as well as an increase in the noise level in the passenger saloon during the operation of the External Doors.
If the Passenger External Doors are controlled by the Passengers (i.e. individually) when required, the heating and cooling losses in addition to the noise level in the passenger saloon could be reduced. This Passenger External Door Control System is to be applied in the Irish Disel Multipul Units Intercity Trains after reviewing the EMU, Passenger coach Cars and the KTX in Korea.
In this case the Passenger Door Enable signal should be controlled by the Driver and, thus the External Doors could be operated by the Passenger.
