In this study, the place names in Jinan, Jeonbuk were analyzed and researched from the viewpoint of Fengsui and studied how much Fengsu affected them. A place name is a historical record which expresses the shape and the change of the geography of an area and a cultural product which has a spirit and history of our ancestors.
There, however, has been no study on the relationship between Fengsu and geography among many researches on Fengsui so far.
Therefore the pace names in Jinan, Jeonbuk, will be studied related to the most essential 7 items of Pungsu, Yang (a dragon), Hyeol (pits of energy concentration), Sa (sand), Su (water), Joahyang (direction of a place), Bibojinap (pressing misfortune), Mulhyeonglon (a theory of the shapes of land and mountains), step by step and this study is on the relationship between the place names and the first item, Yong (a dragon) and San (a mountain).
As a result of the research, the place names related to Yang (a dragon) and San (a mountain) were San (a mountain), Yang (a dragon), Bong (a peak), Moi, Mae, Meoi, Mi, Dai, Wol (moon), Mak and they were researched and explained through references and field trips.
This study will be continued and it may not be perfect since it is the first paper on the subject but it will be a good reference for other researchers who want to study on the subject.
