In this study, we consider the concept, the category and the identification standard of the 'Low form of speech' and also set up the Speech level in the listener treatment rule.
The low form of speech in modern Korean, it can be defined as the clear ended speech and the speech level which does not respect the listener. 'Low form of speech' is the speech which does not respect the listener, it can be classified as [Pyoung Dae] and [Ha dae]. Also, it is appropriate to be recognized as the independent speech level which has the meaning of [Not Respect].
We can see the example of the suffix of low form of speech, ‘-a[?](-어), -ji(-지), -ge(-게), -geduen[g?:d?n](-거든), -nde[?nd?](-ㄴ데), -danigga(-다니까), -lanigga(-라니까), -janigga(-자니까), -dago(-다고), -niago[niago](-냐고), -lago(라고), -jago(자고), -damyounseo(-다면서), -lamyounseo(-라면서), -jamyounseo(-자면서), -dana(-다나), -niana[njana](-냐냐), -lana(-라나), -jana(-자나), -dani(-다니), -niani[njani](-냐니), -lani(-라니), -nga[?nga](-ㄴ가), -na(-나), -lgga(-ㄹ까), -nji(-ㄴ지), -lji(-ㄹ지), -ne(-네), -de(-데), -ngul[?ng?l](-ㄴ걸), -lgul(-ㄹ걸), -le[l?](-래), lge(-ㄹ게), -ayaji[?jaji](-어야지), -goon(-군), -goomun(-구먼)’.
The type of the low form of speech can be sorted as two way. The first one, it can be restituted as the original full sentence and it is formed by deleting the ending part of the sentence.(example 1) The second one, it is the low form of speech which is formed by the low form suffix which can not be restituted. (example 2) The first type is the low form of speech by officially deleting and the second one is by the ommission.
The low form of Korean speech study should take an overall look concerning the individual suffix including the meaning and the function of speech rule. Also the various and systematic description has to be progressed from the social linguistic point of view.
