The present study has been conducted for the new approach to environmental design of the school building.
As school buildings are generally occupied students and teachers during daytime and left out of service in hot summer or cold winter breaks, many attempts have made to apply various passive solar technologies since early 80's.
The passive design proposed by the author concerns the indoor lighting effects, when applying the solar energy for space heating.
Results of this study uphold the idea of location the hallway on the south, which manifest the improvement of indoor illuminance by removing glares and dark spots on the work plane.
The hallway becomes an effective sunspace to heat the classroom, as hot air naturally circulates between the hallway and classroom via dampers and vents.
