The CISG has influenced to the laws of other countries as a model. For instance, the current German civil law, which is the mother law of the Korean civil law, has been amended and implemented based on the CISG. The Korean civil law is also about to be amended on the ground of the CISG. The reason of this amendment is to reflect the worldwide trend that consults the CISG in the process of the legislation in other countries. In addition, the CISG has come into effect in Korea since March 1, 2005. The CIGS has had a big effect on the amendment of the Korean civil law, and it will keep effecting on international trade, too. The CISG is very important, especially, in Korea that performs international trade, because the CISG is applied to all of the international trade dealing with the products. Therefore, it will be meaningful to investigate the relationship between the CISG and the current Korean civil law and to find how it would be like if the Korean civil law is amended. Even though a broad comparison study between the CIGS and the Korean civil law would be very valuable, this present paper narrowed down to compare the current Korean civil law with the amended one focused on the effect of warranty. To begin with, this study tried to find any differences among the CISG, the current Korean civil law, and the amended one. And then, if the Korean civil law should be amended, which part in the CISG should be consulted as a model was analyzed.
