This essay intends to arrange the current situation of various contents related to Tangun and to prospect future of this field. The genres of contents this essay deals with are comics, computer games, television dramas, musicals, and plays etc. A noticeable contents among comics is 『The Myth of Heaven(천국의 신화)』 drawn by Hyeon-Se Lee. It is based on creation myths of north-east Asia and story about Tangun is now developing in its 3rd part. In the field of comics, Tangun contents are produced mainly through comics for students.
There has not been yet remarkable contents dealing with Tangun in television dramas. However <Tewangsashingi: Emperor Gwang-gaeto(태왕사신기)>, a drama being now produced, is noteworthy in the field of dramas about Tangun. It is a drama based on historical facts in the period of establishment of Goguryeo, an ancient Korean kingdom and the Great King Gwang-gaeto’s conquest. Its story begins at the time when Jumong, the first king of Goguryeo Dynasty built a new country on the basis of “Tangun myth”. <Birch Garden(박달나무 정원)> is remarkable among musical contents. This musical reinterprets “Tangun myth” in the contemporary context.
Besides, there have been various attempts to create “archetype” of Tangun contents. But it is a reality that Tangun contents are wanting in both quantity and quality in contrast with the gravity Tangun occupies in the Korean history. Therefore, more various attempts are necessary to create Tangun contents abundant in both quantity and quality.
