This study investigates the dolmen of North Korea to research the tomb of Old Chosun. The dolmens of Old Chosun are distributed at the basin of the Daedong River. The number of dolmens around the Daedong River is about 14000 and five hundred dolmens among them were excavated.
We survey the distribution of dolmen and the characteristics of the grave pit. We can also presume the funeral and ritual activities at that time from excavation.
The dolmens of Old Chosun are distributed among all parts of North Korea. It is noticeable feature that more than one hundred dolmen are distributed at one point such places as Mt. Seokchun and Mt. Jeongbang close to Pyungyang, and the region of Hwangju.
The features of the grave pit are the grooves on stone props, the boundaries of grave, tilting stone props slightly inward and the things concerned with wedge stones.
The fact that cremation is one of the funeral in Old Chosun plays an important role in understanding the burial custom of Old Chosun.
