In this research, we have investigated and classified the structure and sewing of kasaya in Asian region. Also, to prove the difference between kasaya features of each nation and between southern and northern Buddhist nations, we have put the structure and sewing into a form of diagram.
Different from southern Buddhist nation where jang and dan are not consistent. those of northern Buddhist nations are consistent. It would be because southern Buddhist nations only learn of jo in Pali Vinayapitaka without any input about jang and dan. Therefore, jang and dan were introduced as Buddhism spread into China.
In case of sewing. first. Tongmun only exists in Korea. Overall Tongmun includes Taego Order and Ch'ontae Order of Korea. Second. in terms of the sewing method. only Taego Order, Ch'ontae Order of Korea and Japan use hand sewing. The characteristic of Japanese sewing method is that stitches are not shown from the outside. Third. in northern Buddhist nations. Taiwan and Korea is in form of a symmetry centered from mid-jo. And in Tibet Buddhist nation. a symmetry includes jo and jangdan with 7 and 23 jo. Fourth. in terms of distinction between the inside and outside, different from southern Buddhist nations. northern Buddhist nations and Tibet Buddhist nation have interior and exterior distinction. It is from the fact that the kasaya of southern Buddhist nation has a role of clothing and bedding whereas that of northern Buddhist nation only has a role of clothing for the ceremonies. Fifth. in terms of yeap. from northern Buddhist nations. Taiwan and Korea have half of the yeep lifted. Kasaya of Tibet Buddhism nation has the whole veep lifted.
As of above, it was investigated that with the spread of Buddhism of India to China, broadening the frame of Buddhism idea, the kasaya of southern Buddhism nation, which is considered to have an initial kasaya form, is simple. However, that of northern Buddhist nations is complicated. Thus it was proven the kasaya of two different regions had many differences. Since kasaya is a form of dress and ornaments in northern Buddhist nations, which inherited Buddhism, kasaya showed different features under the influence of politics. economy. and society.
