The purpose of writing autobiographical narrative is introspection and reflection of the world. So, when we write our own life, the first person's viewpoint is not enough. The first person's viewpoint would make us think anything self- centerednessly. In this case, thinking on the threshold could be very useful. The thinking on the threshold brings multiple point of view. It is possible us to recognize and read ourself and the world.
But it is needed something that support the metaphor of thinking on the threshold. The meta-thinking of thinking on the threshold is each narrative strategy such as homo-extra-diegetic narrator(an 'external' narrator who narrates his own story (corresponding to a first person retrospective narrative, where the narrator is extra diegetic and his past experiencing self is intra diegetic), homo-intra-diegetic narrator(a fictional narrator who tells his own story), self-conscious narrator, hetro-extra- diegetic
(an 'external' narrator who is not a fictional character in the
story. This is, of course, the third person omniscient narrator). hetro-intra-diegetic narratoda fictional narrator who narrates events in which he does not participate), stream of consciousness(interior monologue, quoted monologue), narrated monologue, psycho-narration, internal focalization (character- bound focalization), external focalization(non-character-bound focaliza- tion), zero focalization, camera-eye, second person viewpoint, and so on.
Using these narrative strategies, the autobiographical narrative does not come to narrative closure but open the narrative, so it could let us introspect ourselves and our world.
