The purpose of this study was to interpret of Kim, Soo-young's Grass, to check it the position in the his poem's world. His basic tactics of poetry simultaneously subsumed the phrases related to 'the narration of language' and 'the working of language'.
In general, both are melted into K.S.Y.'s poems, though only one of both is exercised in some. And it puts 'an epigram' or 'a proverb' in a part which has connection with 'the narration of language', and puts speeches toward society in it. We can see Grass as a work which lays stress on 'the working of language'. What we have to notice in Grass is that though it lacks 'the narration of language' as an oppositional item having the tense relation to 'the working of language', it forms a special tension. the tension happens when 'heteronomous movement' (fact) of the grass flowing in the wind clashes with 'autonomous movement'(fantasy) of the grass flowing without wind. The tension happening on clash between 'fact' and 'fantasy' not only cuts off enlarging this work's interpretation one-sidedly, but also opens the possibility of unending interpretations. This work's 'power' is at this point. This work takes place endless imagination about the road leads to the certain origin of things, the material property of terms subsumed in work and their sound insisting on their inherent existence.
