After the film was named the ‘7th Art’, exchanges between film and other arts began to take place actively. In particular, architecture had more exchanges with film than other art fields due to the similarity with film. There have been many studies on the similarity between film and architecture from the past, and the characteristics of film have also been applied to architecture, and the architect who showed this well is Rem Koolhaas of the Netherlands, who was a film scriptwriter. This study examines the overall understanding of film, the characteristics of film, its composition unit, and the similarity between architecture and film through literature review. In addition, it examines the architectural background and characteristics of Rem Koolhaas through literature review, and examines what are the cinematic characteristics revealed in Rem Koolhaas architecture. After that, it will be investigated through case analysis whether the composition unit of the film appeared in Kunsthal among Rem Koolhaas’ architectural works. After that, it aims to find out the possibility that the characteristics of the film will be applied by being replaced architecturally. As a result, it seems that the composition unit of the film has been replaced architecturally in Kunsthal, and it is expected that it can be generalized and applied to architectural design.
