Objectives: This study examined the effects of providing non-face-to-face education for the prevention of cardio-cerebrovascular disease among citizens of Ulsan Metropolitan City. Methods: A pre-survey on early symptoms, knowledge of prevention activities, and willingness to practice for cardio-cerebrovascular disease was conducted on 1,205 adults aged 19 and over in the Ulsan population. After that, the participants were divided into three groups: the control group, which did not receive non-face-to-face education, and the intervention groups 1 and 2, which received non-faceto- face education using text messages for 4 weeks. In addition, the intervention group 2 received a telephone interview after each round of education to encourage participation. The post-survey was conducted using the same questions as the pre-survey. The effects of non-face-to-face education activities on the awareness of early symptoms and knowledge and willingness to practice for prevention activities related to myocardial infarction and stroke were analyzed using the difference-in-differences method. Results: The analysis of 149 participants who completed the post-survey showed that the control group had a decrease of 0.78 points, while the intervention group 2 had an increase of 1.00 points. This difference was statistically significant (p-value=0.046), suggesting that the educational intervention (non-face-to-face text education+telephone encouragement to participate) was effective. There was no statistically significant difference between the control group and the intervention group 1. Conclusion: This study demonstrated that non-face-to-face education and additional encouragement through a phone call can slightly increase the effectiveness of education, compared to simply providing educational materials in face-to-face education.
