This study examines the design and implementation of a Japanese multimedia authoring class using ChatGPT and Python to automatically generate subtitles and create Japanese videos. The Department of Japanese Language offers IT convergence education to help students apply rapidly evolving IT technologies to their Japanese studies. This research is an example of such a class. The class aims to engage students by incorporating Photoshop and Premiere for video editing and AI technologies. Manually creating subtitles for long videos is challenging, so ChatGPT is used to obtain Python code for STT (Speech to Text), which converts speech to text. This text is then translated back into Japanese and used for subtitles in Premiere. The class, offered to lower-year students, teaches the use of ChatGPT and Python in video authoring and is designed to lead to advanced courses like Japanese sentence analysis and part-of-speech tagging. The ultimate goal is to cultivate Japanese majors capable of utilizing AI technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
