(Purpose) In order to analyze the efficiency of domestic waste collection and transportation management operation services in 11 cities and counties in Chungcheongbuk-do, this study applied the DEA analysis technique, which is widely used in evaluating the efficiency of the public sector. (Design/methodology/approach) Data Environment Analysis (DEA) is used as a useful analysis method to evaluate the efficiency of businesses, organizations, and the public sector, and results of traditional DEA models are compared and analyzed by applying Super-Efficiency to differentiate measurements by efficiency values. (Findings) According to the results of empirical analysis using DEA, three local governments were efficient in the CCR analysis model and eight in the BCC analysis model. These models distinguished between efficient and inefficient local governments, and inefficient local governments were able to identify inefficiencies and the degree of inefficiency for each input variable. DMU2 was the most efficient local government as a result of analyzing the superefficiency value and ranking through the DEA/AP model. (Research implications or Originality) IIn addition to using DEA models CCR and BCC models to specifically analyze relative efficiency, methodological improvement was attempted by using the DEA/AP model, which distinguishes and ranks efficiency differences between efficient DMUs when there are many efficient DMUs.
