In this study, we used various techniques including time series analysis of land use plan, Location Quotient (LQ) analysis, and Dynamic Shift-share analysis to conduct an analysis of 20 development projects in Wonju City from 2000 to 2017.
First, the land use plans of the “Wonju Innovation City Development Project” and the “Wonju Knowledge-based Enterprise City Development Project” have played important roles in establishing a modern city by promoting the service industry in Wonju City.
Second, as a result of analyzing the location quotient (LQ) and its cumulative change (LQD) of the industrial characteristics of Wonju-city, four industrial fields including construction (Code: F) and finance and insurance (Code: K) were specialized in the region and the number of employees was increasing, but four industrial fields including wholesale and retail (Code: G) and transportation and warehousing (Code: H) were non-base industries in the region and the number of employees was continuously decreasing.
Third, the results of the shift-share analysis by industrial sector according to the development project show that the national growth effect has an overall effect, and seven industrial sectors including manufacturing (Code: C) and construction (Code: F) showed positive (+) values for the net relative change effect, indicating that they are highly affected by the regional industrial structure and competitiveness.
