In this study, the necessity and educational demand for Information Technology curriculum for all students were reviewed. We are in the midst of unavoidable changes in the 4th industrial revolution. It has become the responsibility of universities to nurture students for future human resources. The government-led University’s Software Educational Project is underway, both participating and non-participating universities recognize the need for SW convergence education. However, how to expand SW convergence education for non-CS majors remains an undertaking task for each university. This study introduces the curriculum development and compulsory preparation process in Information Technology as a general education at Yonsei University. For this purpose, the intention to take additional IT courses was surveyed for students who completed the basic IT course. Most of the students have plans to take additional IT courses. Students want to complete additional courses in the field of information technology and prepare themselves for employment after graduation. Universities should support students’ success and achieve the objective of education through changes in the IT curriculum development and effective teaching methods. Universities should develop subjects according to the curriculum plan, apply effective educational methods, and actively respond to the needs of society and students.
