The purpose of this study is to discuss conceptual definitions about sport public organizations and political control, and to address identifiable issues related to the political control of sport public organizations. Our discussion is divided into three sections. Firstly, sport public organization can be defined as a quasi-governmental organization with sport-related public missions and objectives. Secondly, political control refers to the control exercised by governments on decisions, actions, and organizational system of their relevant entities. Thirdly, primary issues in terms of the political control of sport public organizations can be clarified by addressing the matters of political control necessity and intensity. It is also suggested that empirical research needs to be conducted in order to make further conceptual clarifications, to compare different methods of political control, and to understand various micro-macro aspects of the political control of sport public organizations.
