In modern society, spatial design is recognized as an important concept that goes beyond simply configuring the physical environment and has a direct or indirect effect on user behavior and experience. In particular, technological developments in the fields of architecture and interior design have promoted innovative changes with the advent of the digital age, and recently, in the field of interior design, the topic of "new spatial experiences due to technological changes" has been in the spotlight in the overall space planning and design process.. As a result of analyzing a series of research trends from the past to the present, the research trends of spatial design based on visual merchandising (VMD) were identified as commercial spaces are constantly seeking various ways to induce and captivate users. I believe that understanding will become more important than anything else. In addition, it is not limited to simply explaining the flow of visual merchandising (VMD) in chronological order, but suggests that it will be used as a resource that can be used for the development of spatial design research and practice to support a more dynamic future interior design field. , it is hoped that the scope of spatial design from the microscopic aspect will be expanded to the macroscopic aspect, resulting in comprehensive smart urban planning that takes environmental design into consideration.
