Due to the rapid progress of globalization, advanced countries" architectural styles are being adopted, leading to the blending of cultural traits and traditional architectural forms in various regions, often causing the disappearance of their unique identities. In the case of the Taebaek region, despite its distinctive geographical and cultural features, the local identity is gradually fading away as demand and interest diminish over time. Through theoretical exploration, it is possible to derive the unique regional identity of the Taebaek area and emphasize this identity by highlighting the image of a mining area using local materials. Planning spa spaces using water as a fundamental material and applying the properties of water (visual, tactile, auditory) within these spaces can enhance the regional identity significantly. By conducting preliminary research and analyzing relevant case studies, users can physically and mentally experience the properties of materials (light, water, local resources). This, especially when combined with the utilization of local materials and their integration with the natural environment, can establish the regional identity of the Taebaek area. Hoping for active and ongoing research in sustainable spa resort space planning, incorporating the expressive characteristics of regional identity rather than simply organizing events for local revitalization. It is anticipated that an era of regional identity will emerge amidst the globalization era, starting with the distinctly unique Taebaek region, establishing a sense of identity
