Motori Norinaga was born in 1730 and became immersed in the study of Kogaku from 1763 onwards, and from 1764 he began writing Kojikiden as an Annotated Commentary for Kojiki , completing it in 44 volumes by 1798, and accepting the request of the literati, he immediately set out to write and complete Uiyamabumi as a primer for beginners in that year, which was published the following year. Through these writings, he was a staunch believer in Shintoism, and secondly, he understood that this thorough adherence to Shintoism was the job of a scholar. He was so proud of his own Kojikiden that he said, “There is no book yet that I would ask you to read except my own book in order to quickly understand the meaning of Shinto.” It was enough to say.
He wrote in detail about Baekje’s scholar Wangin’s dissemination of Zhong Yao’s The Thousand-Character Text to Japan not only in Kojikiden but also in Uiyamabumi as a primer for beginner. In addition, in modern Japanese academia, Kogaku itself, centered on Kojikiden , is empirical, and its foundation is also reliable in terms of sinology, and it is evaluated that Kojikiden was established as a classic. Therefore, his affirmative theories on Zhong Yao’s The Thousand-Character Text was disseminated to Japan by Baekje’s Wangin should also be evaluated for its historical significance in the context of this positive perception of contemporary Japanese academia as a whole.
