This article focuses on the topic of censorship, which has returned as a major topic in today’s Russian literature. After February 24, 2022, the Russian literature field is experiencing major changes. Many Russian intellectuals, including writers, literary critics, publishers, left Russia and went into exile abroad. Additionally, in December 2022, the bill to ban so-called ‘LGBT propaganda’ was finally approved and began to take effect.
Russian literature has tried to understand the past and create a new present for about 30 years after the collapse of the Soviet Union. However, the unexpectedly re-emerging era of censorship is very unfamiliar and is threatening. In this context, this article attempted to analyze how censorship of Russian literature began after February 24, 2022, and how it continues to this day. We also sought to examine the Russian literary world"s response to censorship through the voices of writers, literary critics, journalists, publishers, etc. This study is expected to provide a view of the reality and future of Russian literature by analyzing the new changes that contemporary Russian literature is experiencing from the perspective of crisis and the search for new alternatives.
