This study aims to reveal the methodological differences between Max Weber and Wallerstein. By showing how Weber’s and Wallerstein’s approaches to understanding history differ in their methodological and epistemological origins, the study confirms why there have been very few comparative studies between the two within the field of historical sociology. Taking matters one step further, it has shown that world-systems methodology can help to overcome the weaknesses found in Weber and Weberian historical methodology (i.e., the absence of connected histories between the West and non-West). Be that as it may, it does not mean that the world-systems analysis is more effective and valuable than the approaches of Weberian historical sociology. On the contrary, the study attempts to show that Weberian historical sociology may become a more convincing and helpful methodology by utilizing the world-systems approach.
