Interpersonal relationships are very important for healthy development of high school students. However, many high school students are suffering from interpersonal problems. Internalized shame is representative variable that negatively affects interpersonal problems. On the other hand, meta mood is representative variable that positively affects interpersonal problems. The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of the relationship of internalized shame and meta mood on interpersonal problem of high school students. To this end, data were collected from 266 first and second graders of three high schools in J, Jeollabuk-do, and analyzed using SPSS 18.0. For data analysis, t-test, Pearson's correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were conducted. As a result of the study, first, internalized shame, meta mood, and interpersonal problem showed significant differences according to the gender of the study subject. Second, there was a significant effect of mistake anxiety and emptiness, which are sub-factors of internalized shame in total interpersonal problem. In the sub-variable, there was a significant effect of gender, a sense of inappropriate and emptiness, which are sub-factors internalized shame on moving toward people. There was a significant effect of mistake anxiety and emptiness, which are sub-factor internalized shame on moving against people. There was a significant effect of gender, mistake anxiety and emptiness, which are sub-factor internalized shame, clarity of feeling which are sub-factor meta mood on moving away from people. This study suggests the need to develop and implement gender-specific programs that can alleviate interpersonal problems by lowering internalized shame level and promoting meta mood.
