This study was conducted to find out what kind of understanding kindergarten teachers formed about intercultural education who experienced intercultural education through a method of philosophical discussion. To this end, eight kindergarten teachers were divided into four and participated in the group discussion, and the understanding of intercultural education formed through the experience was identified through individual interviews. As a result of this study, through philosophical discussions, participants came to understand intercultural education as ‘mutuality to understand each other’, ‘reflection of prejudice’, and ‘discovery of difference recognition and universality’. In that this conforms to the basic principles of intercultural education, it can be said that intercultural education in the philosophical discussion method helped to understand the concept and substance of intercultural education. These findings suggest the need to develop philosophical discussion-based intercultural education for prospective and current kindergarten teachers as a more systematic program.
