This study was conducted to collect the basic data on the development direction of flower festivals held by the local governments in Jeollanamdo Province. We had also investigated and analyzed the timing of the festival, the opening of each festival, flower resources, the number of visitors, and the distance between the festival venue and the city and county offices. Of the twenty one cities and counties in Jeollanam-do, seventeen local governments(81.0%) were holding thirty two kinds of flower festivals. As a result of examing the proportion of the festival by month, it was increased in the order of April(30.5%) > March(19.4%) > May(16.6%) > October(8.3%) > November(5.6%), and the remaining months were less than 2.8%. Flower festivals were much hold following that 4-7 years(21.9%) > 3 years or less(18.8%) > 13-16 years(15.6%) > 8-12 years(12.5%) > the others(>9.4%). The flowers used in the flower festival were chrysanthemum, azalea and royal azalea in four places(23.5%), respectively, and cherry blossoms were used in three places(17.6%) and the others were less than two types. There were fifteen places where one kind of flower was used as a theme for the flower festival. The number of visitors by the type of flower festival was less than 6 million people(53.1%) > 6-10 million people(15.6%) > more than 1 million people(9.4%) > the others(6.3%). The distance between the flower festival venue and the city or county hall was in the order of that less than 4km(28.1%) > more than 27km(18.8%) > 11-15km and 23-27km(12.5%) > 15-19km(9.4%) > the others(6.3%). These results are expected to help improve tourism effects and plan new festivals to revitalize tourism at festivals in Jeollanam-do, where flowers are a resource.
