The purpose of this study was to analysis types of compensatory behaviors in female collegiate athletes and non athletes. 389 female collegiate athletes from 39 types of sports and 567 non athletes collegie women participated in this study volunteerly, and all athletes were categorized into 6 groups(technical, endurance, aesthetic, weight-class, ball, power group). Along with 5 demographic questions, Korean version of Eating Disorders Examination Questionnaires was applied. Results indicate that the frequency of self-vomiting and driven exercise in the athletes group and non-athletes group was not significantly different. However, there was significantly different in laxatives use between two groups. Significantly differences of compensatory behaviors were found between 6 sports groups and non-athletes group. On body weight and shape concern variables, significant differences were detected between athletes and non-athletes. However, there were no differences among sports groups. This results indicate compensatory behaviors are fatal for not only non-athletes college women but also female athletes. Those behaviors could be developed an etiologic factor for eating disorders. Health education for female athletes should be required to prevent compensatory behaviors.
